Lavon Williams   President

Lavon was born and raised in Volusia County Florida. He graduated from Deland Senior High School, Deland Fl., in 1982. Lavon is a veteran of the United States Army and received an honorable discharge in 1988. He went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach Fl. Lavon graduated with a B.S. Degree in Professional Aeronautics in 1992. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1993 and serves as Chairman of the Health Ministry at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Eatonville Fl. Lavon has worked in emergency medicine for the past 15 years. He is also a CPR Instructor, Professional Firefighter and a Paramedic.  Cathy Semyck    - Secretary

Cathy is a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and is active in their health ministry team and serves as a eucharistic minister to the sick She is owner and Administrator of Winston House Assisted Living – an assisted living home in Maitland. She also volunteers for Vitas Hospice and she is a board member with the Executive Women’s Golf Association. Cathy can be reached at csemyck@earthlink.net.

Betsy McKeeby   – Director

Betsy has served as parish nurse at First United Methodist Church of Winter Park since November 2003. Her RN background has primarily included work in coronary care and cardiac rehabilitation with an emphasis on helping people achieve a healthy lifestyle after they have learned of a heart diagnosis. Growing up as a Methodist preacher’s kid in East Tennessee, she graduated with a bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She has additional coursework in adult education, clinical pastoral education and parish nursing and is certified in cardiac and vascular nursing by the ANCC. Michelle Hodge   – Director

Michelle Covelli Hodge is a native of Maitland, Florida. She recently accepted the parish nurse position at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in August 2011. Michelle has earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Service with a Biology minor, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in Healthcare Administration. Michelle’s background experience as a Registered Nurse was concentrated in adult Medical/Surgical and Trauma ICU. She has held various positions at a Level one Trauma center in Charlotte, N.C. that included: staff nurse, preceptor, nurse manager and a faculty member at Carolinas College of Health Sciences. Michelle and her husband David returned to Florida in 2003 to raise their family and grow spiritually at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Michelle is looking forward to working in her new role and partnering with different congregations in an effort to raise awareness in one’s mind, body and spirit.

 

 

Tonja Williams – Director

Tonja Williams is a graduate from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She began her nursing career at Tallahassee Memorial Regional Medical Center. While employed at Tallahassee Memorial, her professional career flourished in the areas of Maternal / Child and Neurology. In January 1996 Tonja relocated to Orlando, FL and continued her career at Orlando Regional Medical Center with an emphasis on Internal Medicine. Tonja continued to excel in her professional career with valuable experiences in education, nursing administration, and marketing. In 1999 Tonja became a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church of Eatonville, FL where she experienced enormous spiritual growth. Accepting her calling as Parish Nurse, Tonja completed the Parish Nurse Preparatory Program at the Florida Hospital Parish Nurse Institute in September 2007. With prayer, guidance of the Holy Spirit, and the support of Pastor Willie C Barnes, the Parish Nurse Ministry was implemented at Macedonia in October 2007. As Parish Nurse, Tonja remains faithful and dedicated in her service to the Lord. She currently serves as Co-Chair for the Health Ministry and is an active member of the Addictive Behavior Recovery Ministry (ABRM) as well as Women’s Ministry. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Central Florida Black Nurses Association. Tonja is the proud mother of son, Channing.

 

Kimberly Hicks – Director

Dr. Kimberly M. Hicks is co-founder of the Central Florida Coalition for Health Awareness, Inc. She was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa. and has practiced pharmacy in the State of Florida for over 20 years. Dr. Hicks is presently serving as a clinical pharmacy specialist with Bioplus Specialty Pharmacy where she provides pharmacokinetic services for amino glycosides and vancomycin therapy along with clinical support for home infusion patients. She also specializes in disease and drug therapy management of patients on biotech medications with a special emphasis on Hepatitis C Disease Management. She is a licensed Pharmacy Consultant with the State of Florida and the State of Oregon, as well as an Adjunct Professor of Pharmacology for City College, Altamonte Springs, FL, where she shares her passion for health education by teaching Pharmacology to allied health students.
