GROWTH

OUR PURPOSE

The purpose of “Our Whole Community” community garden is to provide a place for members of the Eatonville, Maitland and Winter Park communities to come together to grow and harvest produce in a healthy and productive manner.  Educational opportunities will be available to learn how to grow, harvest, and prepare fresh fruits and vegetables with a focus on the economical, physical, emotional and spiritual benefits that come from gardening.

COMMUNITY GARDENS

Our existing community garden is located at Winter Park Presbyterian Church of Winter Park.  If interested in a garden box, please see membership and contact information below.  Our second garden is at DePugh Nursing Center, 550 W. Morse Blvd in Winter Park.  We are beginning work on building the garden and have several work days planned over the next few months.  Many volunteers are needed to help build this beautiful garden.

DEPUGH NURSING CENTER COMMUNITY GARDEN UPDATE-

NEW COMMUNITY GARDEN - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
A new community garden is underway at the Gardens of Depugh Nursing Center in Winter Park at 550 W. Morse Blvd. (property is behind the Center off of Welbourne) and we need your help!  We are scheduling work days throughout the summer and through the fall for building the garden boxes and beautifying the garden space.  This is a wonderful opportunity to support the community and earn service hours for your community organizations.  A portion of the garden vegetables and fruits are donated to local food pantries to help feed the less fortunate.  If you have an hour or two to help, the upcoming work days in July are:

Saturday, July 10th - 7:00 am - 10:00 am - We will be raking and general cleanup of debris.  We have installed a new fence and we will be painting the fence posts.

Saturday, July 17th - 7:00 am - 10:00 am - We will continue pickup of debris and will rototill a portion of the site.  Also, continue to paint the fence posts.

Please wear old clothes and shoes.  Please bring rakes, shovels, large plastic tubs (if have them), gloves, water, and don't forget the sunscreen.

If you have any questions or wish to donate labor or construction materials (concrete, concrete blocks, concrete mixers, trenchers, piping, pickup trucks, etc.) for construction of the garden boxes, please contact Joann Ruiz at 321-356-0989.
